You Don't Scare Me

There are those who believe that the best way to lead is to strike fear into people. Have you ever had a boss that led that way?

I know an individual that enjoys putting fear into his employees. He believes that is the best way to have employees obey him. The problem is he is also one of my supervisors. But I do not fear him. In fact I actually pity him. He does not scare me. I know that he would like to strike fear into my heart but this causes problems since there are times when I am a supervisor also and the relationship that we have shifts from employee/employer to co-worker.

How do you deal with a person that does strike fear into your heart? What if you are somewhat scarred of someone that you must answer to?

Jesus said in Matthew 10:24 And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But reather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Jesus is not saying that we need to be afraid of God but rather to have a deep respect or a reverence for God.

Paul wrote in Romans 8:31 If God is for us, who can be against us? Remember God is not against you. You are not alone. When God is with you, God and you make a majority! Don't be scarred!
One way to grow in this area is to spend time in the Word of God. Let God's Word saturate your mind. Don't allow a supervisor (or anyone else) intimidate you. Let God's Word wash your mind. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord (Col. 3:16).
Also spend time talking to the Lord. Tell God how you feel and what it is that is bothering regarding this person. Ask the Lord to deal with that person and also to give you the courage to not that person intimidate you.

It is a growing process that does not happen over night. There is never a reason to fear any man. Remember God has promised to be with you always.
