Dinner at Chipotle

Sometimes I wonder about myself. How can you get excited about eating at a fast-food burrito restaurant? Well, that would mean you have never been to a Chipotle.
In January Chipotle opened up in Flagstaff. We were interested in eating there that day but the line was around the building. Sadly we decided to visit them at a later date. Well, that day finally came.
In our order we had two burritos, three tacos and an order of guacamole and chips. I know that was a lot of food, but there were three of us eating! Honestly!
It had been a long, long time since we had been to a Chipotle and once more I could not wait to dive in to my burrito.
When I unwrapped that baby I couldn't believe my eyes! That beast is HUGE! All I could think of was my good friend Bill Philipp who is a burrito maniac. He would have been proud of us.
Somehow between the three of us we managed to eat everything. All that was left was the aftermath of empty wrappers and containers.

I must admit that I am looking forward to our return visit. I am planning on going to Flagstaff again in April. I do have to eat somewhere!!!

A Visit to Zia's

In early February we headed down to the Phoenix area for a long weekend. While we were there we made a stop at Zia's Record Exchange. This is their Chandler AZ location.
Zia's is a large music store that some how snuck by me on our first few visits. In fact it was just a few blocks from where we spent so much of our time on our first visit back in October.
I was totally blown away at the amount of stock in this store. Tons, and tons, and tons of cds!
Along with a lot of cds they also have t-shirts and vinyl!
Yes, I did say vinyl. Some of it was new and some of it was used. I did drop some money at Zia's. I want to return and spend more time browsing through their stock. In fact my wife may have to drop me off and come back a few hours later.

I am looking forward to my next trip to Zia's! I'll will be back!

A Glimpse Of Holiness

Have you ever read through the Bible? I am not talking about just certain books of the Bible but I mean cover to cover? I am working my way through the Old Testament at the moment and recently I hit the book of Leviticus. Genesis and Exodus are pretty exciting. Lots of stories and great characters. But Leviticus can really slow one down.

At the same time as I was reading through Leviticus I got hold of an old book by Warren Wiersbe entitled "Victorious Christians You Should Know." In the second chapter Wiersbe writes about Robert Murray McCheyne, a Scottish minister from the mid-1800s. He writes
We hear people boasting that their pastor is a good expositor (and there is nothing wrong with that), a good counselor, a man who is "fun to be with"; but we rarely hear people say, "Our pastor is a holy man of God."

Throughout Leviticus the word "holy" is used almost 100 times! Holy means to be set apart; reserved from profane or common use. And this is what God wants for his people.
In Leviticus 11:44-45 we read For I am the LORD your God. You shall therefore consecrate yourselves, and you shall be holy; for I am holy. For I am the LORD who brings you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God. You shall therefore by holy, for I am holy.

This is how God sees Christians, but in our normal, day to day life we need to take an inventory of the things we do, watch and hear, and ask the Lord if there are things that we need to stop doing, places where we need to stop going, things we need to stop watching or listening to.

Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, "Be holy, for I am holy." (1Peter 1:13-16)
