Jackie

Jackie is one of the supervisors here at Paul Revere.  Early this year she was diagnosed with cancer and has been off work for the last 3-4 months.  Yesterday she was back to work!  Along with her duties of supervision she is also a trainer for new employees.  She will be involved with training for the next two weeks and then she will be supervising.

Continue to pray for Jackie.  Pray that the cancer does not return and also pray that the Lord will do a wonderful work in her life.

Welcome Back Jackie!

Sunday's Bulletin

I was blown away this past Sunday when I saw the church bulletin at Calvary Williams.  This is the front of the bulletin.  It is designed by Joonho Kim.  "JK" is the pastor of Calvary Chapel of Sahuarita in Arizona.  I have heard Pastor Joonho teach twice at the Arizona Calvary men's retreat (2007 and 2008).  Last year his message really ministered to me.  He is a real blessing and a good brother.  Hope you enjoy the bulletin cover.

Calvary Chapel Williams

When we first moved to the Grand Canyon we knew that one of our problems would be finding a church fellowship where we could plug in.  After some initial calls to the churches at the canyon we called Calvary Chapel Williams.  Williams AZ is about 50-60 miles south of the Grand Canyon straight down Highway 64.

For the past two years we gone to the Tuesday night home Bible study that the church had.  But with my schedule now I have enough time to get up early on Sunday morning, drive to the Sunday am service and get back in time for work in the afternoon.  We have gone two Sundays in a row.  It is so good to be in corporate worship with the body of Christ!

With my new schedule starting in mid-May it looks like I will be having Sun-Tues off.  I cannot imagine being able to go to church every Sunday.  Wow!  God is sooo good!

The Move

This past Monday we moved (April 20).  We left Trailer Village, where we had been for 2 years and moved to a nicer rv park here at the Grand Canyon.  Where we are located is a more "stable" group of people.  What I mean by that is that people are not moving in and out as much.  A lot of the people here work year round and there are a lot of families here also.

Everyone here in this area are employees.  At Trailer Village half of that park was employees and half were visitors.  At our new site we have Paul Revere employees all around us.  A lot of the new drivers are coming in at the moment to start training next Monday.  It is real exciting.

The picture above is our front yard.  Our daughter has a lot of room to do her thing.  The back yard is large also.  We do miss our old neighbors and at the moment we do not have dsl.  We are running at 256 k.  This is similar to dial up service.  Man, I feel like we have moved backward instead of forward!  The company that handles phone and internet service here is "working on it."  When we get high speed internet again I will be rejoicing!

New Music . . .Wednesday?

Yesterday I received my order of music from GRRR Records.  Three cds were in my mail box when I checked it.  Here they are!

The Glenn Kaiser Band has become the premiere blues band in Christian Rock and their new album Octane (2008) proves why.  Great blues.
This is a 1988 Resurrection Band classic that I have been having a lot of trouble getting a copy of.  Between Heaven 'n Hell has some great songs on it and it is the last album with Jim Denton on bass.  Finally, I have the entire Resurrection Band collection.
Left Out was a little punk band that released this in 1999.  Fun music from four crazy guys.

Normally when I get music from GRRR Records I always play it loud.  If you hear a lot of noise coming from Northern Arizona, it is only me rocking out!

It Is Open!

We have been watching and waiting for the Taco Bell/KFC to open in Williams AZ.  We got word about this last fall and we got concerned with the economy not doing well.  When we saw the building going up last January we got excited.  Last we were heading for Prescott on Monday we noticed that it was open.  We decided to make a stop on the way back on Tuesday.
My order was a taco and a burrito supreme.  Even though the food was good the real enjoyment was running into a couple from the Calvary Chapel here.  The church has moved into a new location and they told us where it is.  With my new work schedule I have enough time to go to church on Sundays and get to work on time!  As good as the food was, the fellowship was even better.  A great ending to a good weekend.

Tuesday Morning Breakfast

Tuesday morning we got up and went to breakfast at Wildflower Bakery Company at the mall in Prescott.  This has become a habit everytime we come to Prescott.
This time I had a chocolate chip bagel and we shared a chocolate chip scone.  Of course I had some of their wonderful coffee.

Anybody For Seafood?

After running a few errands and getting set up for the night, we were starving and ready for some good food.  Somehow Red Lobster came to mind and off we were to an early dinner (or late lunch).
I enjoy a good salad but I was more in the mood for some New England Clam Chowder.  Of course the garlic biscuits are always a treat also.

I pigged out and ordered the Admiral's Feast.  I did have some help with the clam strips.  My wife and daughter always "steal" my clams from me.  All of this plus a baked potato and the waiter asked if we wanted desert.  There was no way I could have had desert!

Another Weekend In Prescott

We headed down to Prescott AZ this weekend (Monday & Tuesday).  We arrived on Monday and stayed at Point of Rocks Rv park.  It is a really pleasant rv park that we enjoy.

Good-bye Betty

Betty is the supervisor that I am replacing in the office at work.  She is leaving to go back to New York to take care of some family problems.  She will be greatly missed.  Betty hopes to return sometime in mid-summer.  Good-bye Betty!  Our prayers go with her.  Lord, take care of Betty and her family.

Easter Sunday Desert

Last fall we had heard that the Carvel Ice Cream Shop here had shut down for good.  We were really sad!  But the information must had been wrong.  An Open sign that is lit is always a beautiful sight!

Carvel has pretty good ice cream.  It is not Blue Bell but it is still good ice cream.  But the problem is they do not have chocolate chip!
Since there is no chocolate chip I had a hot fudge sundae instead.  Yummm!

Lunch On Easter Sunday

After a snowy and cold Saturday the weather turned out beautiful on Easter Sunday.  For lunch we went to McDonald's in Tuscayan.  I really wanted Mexican food but in northern Arizona you cannot have everything.
I had one of the new chicken sandwiches that MickeyD's has on the menu.  Can't beat a grilled chicken sandwich!

Two Beautiful Views During Yesterdays' Snow

The view above was taken yesterday from Hermit's Rest at the Grand Canyon.  I love the low snow clouds.  I do wonder how much snow the north rim got.
At sunset last night the sun did break through the clouds and give us some beautiful views.  This is just one.  I normally do not get a chance to get many shots of sunset.  I am usually controlling the crowd and getting buses loaded with people or driving the bus myself.  But last night there were just a few people for sunset at Hopi Point and I got to enjoy it myself.
"The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof."  The Lord is good!

It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like . . .Easter?

We woke up yesterday morning to a little bit of snow.  As the day went on, so did the snow.  Then it really started coming down.  After all was said and done it was about 2 inches but at times it was snowing really hard.  The forecast is calling for more today but the sun is shining at the moment.  But of course, that could change.

Finally! A Day Off

I finally got a day off.  I have been working for a little over two weeks straight.  Man, what a relief!

Yesterday was a laid back day.  For Christmas I got all four seasons of the tv series The Pretender and the two made for tv movies.  We have made it through all four seasons and last night we watched the first of the movies.  I do not think that the movie was as good as the series.

There are two statements that seem to be repeated over and over throughout the series.  One is when someone looks at Ms Parker that knew her mother they always tell her, "You look just like her mother."  The second one is that no one ever dies at the Centre.  One more movie and we are through with the Pretender.

Over all it has been pretty good tv viewing.  At least I have enjoyed it.

Today we are heading to Flagstaff.  I will post our adventures here.

I Think I Might Have Lost My Mind

Have you ever done something, or agreed to something and then you wonder, have I lost it completely?  Yesterday, (April 1)  I started a new job.  I am in training as a supervisor.  One of our supervisors is out ill and we have no idea when she will return.  After a few weeks our manager, Sharon, hired a new supervisor.  Her name is Teri and she is doing a really good job.  In the midst of all of this one of our other supervisors named Betty needs to leave for about three months and go back to New York.  She needs to deal with some family issues that are extremely important.  There is only one more supervisor.  That would leave two supervisors doing all of the work.

Last week I approached Sharon about supervision and told her that I am available to step into supervision if needed.  She took me up on it.  Last night Betty started training me to replace her when she leaves on the 12th.  Actually the 12th (Easter Sunday) will be her last day.

Last night went well.  I watched how Betty did all the paperwork (there really is not that much).  But tonight I get to do all the paperwork (she will be over my shoulder just in case).

Pray for me as I start a new adventure here at the Grand Canyon.  Our prayer is that the Lord would be glorified as I work.

Weekly Brerakfast

Each week some of the drivers (and their spouses) get together for breakfast at the Quality Inn.  They have an "all you can eat" buffet that for the most part is not to bad.

Above is a picture of my plate of food.  When we got there the biscuits had just come out of the oven and they were dumping them into the serving area.  Man were they good.
The food is not always the best but hanging out with some of the other drivers is always fun.    This has built a friendship among many of us and it gives us a chance to laugh be together.
